Conti-O'Hare's QUEST model

[Summary] [Websites] [Bibliography]

Summary:

The QUEST model is a model of reflective practice developed by Marion Conti-O'Hare.  Conti-O'Hare describes the "wounded healer," the nurse who has experienced trauma, recognized the trauma, and uses that recognition in the process of becoming a healer.

The QUEST acronym stands for:

  • Question - Identification of the trauma

  • Uncover - Reflection on the experience of the trauma

  • Experience - Recognizing the feelings about the experience

  • Search for meaning - Determining the meaning of the experience in one's life

  • Transform and transcend - Resolving the trauma and becoming a "wounded healer"
